Birla Cellulose and environment
Maintaining its commitment to sustainable development, Birla Cellulose has a well drawn out environment management
strategy in place. Environment concerns are textured into all manufacturing processes and business decisions.
Birla Cellulose subscribes to the United Nations Global Compact.

At all our plants, we adopt clean technologies and processes that offer both economic progress and sustainable environment. Our plants are ISO 14001 Environment Management System Certified (EMS) and adhere to OHSAS 18001 standards.

Many accolades have been conferred on to Birla Cellulose for its singular contribution to environment conservation.
The selective list includes:


Birla Cellulose's Nagda (India) unit bagged the coveted “Stockholm Industry Water Award”, an achievement for the first time in Asia.
Harihar (India) unit of Birla Cellulose bagged “TERI Corporate Environmental Award” for cleaner production while keeping waste generation at its lowest.
Kharach (India) unit, one of the manufacturing units of Birla Cellulose, was awarded “Greentech Gold Award” for Environmental Excellence as a recognition for its continuous efforts in the field of sustainable development and environmental preservation.
Thailand) unit, one of the international units of Birla Cellulose, received an award from the Environmental Engineers Association of Thailand & Creative Thai Association for -

  Good pollution management for air and water
Another international unit, Indonesia unit received an award from Bhupati Purwakarta for environment.
